WAVELET SEMINARS AND WAVELET COURSES

D. Lee Fugal has presented Wavelet seminars, Wavelet courses, and Wavelet lectures both with and without the mathematical theory. These latest seminars, however, have evolved into a set of critically acclaimed (see below) powerful tools that give engineers, management, students, and others the necessary background to understand and intelligently use wavelets with an absolute minimum of math. This 3-day tutorial sesrvers not only as a first course in wavelets but the user for further study, if needed, from the more scholarly equation-driven texts having already used the methods described in the equations.

Here is a partial list of seminars and lectures:

  • Wavelets: A Conceptual, Practical Approach, June 1-3, 2010, ATI Courses. Beltsville, Maryland.
  • Wavelets: A Conceptual, Practical Approach, February 23-25, 2010, ATI Courses. San Diego, California.
  • A Practical Introduction to Wavelets And Wavelet Transforms (Seminar), November 18, 2009, Qualcomm Auditorium, San Diego, California.

Here are some comments from presenters and attendees at the seminars:

I was very pleased with your efforts and the organization of the course. The responses we received from the participants were very positive

- V. John Mathews, Professor and Chairman,
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Utah.

“The course was not only interesting but great for generating useful new ideas”

Paul K. Kuhn, Lead Engineer, General Electric.

“You explain it in a very simple way so that people can understand it. You have pointed out several issues which are critical in applications like denoising which are hard to find in any book. I am very familiar with the equations, but your presentation gave me some new perspectives on Wavelets”

Dr. Kumari, L. Fernando, Post-Doctoral Research Assistant

Comments from other attendees include:

“Clear, Concise, Robust and Solid”

“Excellent Introduction to the Subject”

“Presentation style very down to earth and practical”

“Easy to follow. Very useable”

“Great clarity in presentation”

“Excellent knowledge of the subject and easy communication with the students”

“Provided good physical understanding of Wavelet transforms and Applications without unnecessary complexity”

“Your clear explanations starting with the big picture immediately contextualized the material allowing us to drill a little deeper with a fuller understanding”

“Clearly an Expert and knows the material well”

Although the book and the excerpts should be of value to you, there is no substitute for the Hands-On experience and interactions with the author that can be obtained by attending one of the upcoming seminars. Seminars can also be customized and/or presented at your facility saving you time and money. Half or full-day lectures can also be arranged to give attendees a solid understanding of some of the basics.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AT THE WAVELET SEMINAR OR COURSE

  • How to use Wavelets as a “microscope” to analyze data that changes over time or has hidden “events” that would not show up on an FFT.
  • How to understand and efficiently use the 3 types of Wavelet Transforms to better analyze and process your data. State-of-the-art methods and applications.
  • How to Compress and De-Noise data using advanced Wavelet techniques. How to avoid potential pitfalls by understanding the concepts. A “safe” method if in doubt.
  • How to increase productivity and reduce cost by choosing (or building) a Wavelet that best matches your particular application.
